Project 2

This project involves developing proposals for the Penn Museum Library entrance and  explorations for a general graphic identity. The cluttered and unattractive entrance obscures the library’s function and features, deterring visitors from entering. The entrance to the library is located along a heavily-trafficked corridor that connects the Penn Museum’s galleries and the Academic Wing.
Deb Stewart, Director, Museum Library, will introduce the project on Thursday, Feb 21, at 3pm (library is on 2nd floor – enter through main entrance on Spruce). Be prepared to listen carefully and interrogate her so we can get what we need to start the project.
Deb and her team have provided a number of drawings and views of the library spaces as well as Penn Libraries/Penn Museum graphics standards.

Saying Goodbye to Karl Lagerfeld

1033179-500w

Karl Lagerfeld, German designer and creative director of Chanel and Fendi, passed away this morning in Paris, following a short illness, at 85. Despite his controversial presence in the industry, there’s no denying that he was an icon in both fashion design and business. Lagerfeld was best known for his work with Chanel, starting his career with the brand nearly 40 years ago, just a decade after the passing of Coco Chanel. Lagerfeld worked tirelessly, pushing designs for Chanel, Fendi, and his own label, right up until his death. As I sit here in sweatpants, an iconic quote by Karl Lagerfeld comes to mind: “sweatpants are a sign of defeat.” Maybe I should re-evaluate my fashion choices.

Rest in Peace Karl Lagerfeld.

POLO ASSN Logo

Today my friend’s and I started talking about the less popular / recognizable POLO ASSN logo, and I decided to look it up out of curiosity. This logo has so many details for such a small logo on polo shirts that it just looks like a blob with many legs. I never realized it was 2 guys on 2 horses..

Updates on Vetigenics and Flo Bio

I will be late to class Tuesday, so David suggested that I get feedback on these in advance. Flo Bio has not changed, but I changed Vetigenics to make the animals more recognizable. I asked my friend to identify the animals in their previous state, and he could not identify the horse, so I added the front of the mane as you can see here, and changed the shape:

And here is Flo Bio:
